More About Us & What We Do

Our Charity objectives and core focus is the prevention or relief of poverty in Brierley Hill and the surrounding areas by providing essential items, resources and support to families with young children and/or to charities or other organisations who also work to prevent or relieve poverty amongst families.

Who we help & how to get support

Families in our community who experience financial hardship can get support. As parents and carers prepare to have a new baby and adapt to the needs of a child up to age 2 it can be challenging in many ways. Brierley Hill Babybank was set up in February 2019 to not only support families with baby essential items but to signpost and help parents locally. We take referrals for families and services that are based within the DY1-10 and B63-5 area from NHS health professionals, family support services and community organisations. A family may access support just once during the first 1001 days and others may need to access the maximum of 3 per year.

Supporting families 1-2-1

We can support some of our most vulnerable families on a 1-2-1 basis who are referred to us. We walk with them through life challenges helping to support and guide them. We have trained staff who can work with parents for the short or long term, depending on need and are assessed individually. We take a holistic approach, looking at CBT and mindfulness techniques, helping them to make the best informed choices for themselves and their little ones. What we offer is very person centred and we are there to help their journey in the first 1001 days of a child's life. We work closely with other local organisations and services to help them have the best future possible

How your donations help

Donations are made into beautiful packs, including new toiletries and other essentials for parents-to-be, or families with a child under two years old. Each Moses basket donated is provided with a brand-new mattress, to ensure we follow guidelines outlined by The Lullaby Trust, for safer sleeping against sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Without your donations, we would not be able to make such a difference to every family that gets referred. It provides them with much hope for the future and strengthens the community around us.
