We're always looking for new and used baby goods to pass on to a needed home. See list below for specific items we're looking for. We work with a number of local organisations to run our donation points. If you would prefer to donate financially you can donate directly or through our just giving page.
Many families in our community experience financial hardship as they try to adjust to having a new baby at home. The Brierley Hill Babybank was set up in February 2019 to support families with baby essentials.
In just a few months, thanks to the wonderful donations made by people in the local community, we have been able to support more than 120 families. We are now heading into our second year and are looking for others to help us to continue to support families in our area.
We take referrals for families within the DY1-10 and B63-5 area from NHS health professionals, family support services and community organisations to ensure that our bespoke packs get to those who need them most.
At present local people make donations of new or good quality preloved baby clothes, blankets, Moses baskets, changing mats, prams, toys and books. These are washed, dried and made into beautifully gift-wrapped packs, including new toiletries and other essentials for mums-to-be, or families with a child under two years old. Each moses basket donated is provided with a brand-new mattress, to ensure we follow guidelines outlined by The Lullaby Trust, for safer sleeping against sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).
Our small team of passionate volunteers, based from our new premises in Stourbridge, take great care in creating a pack that makes a new family feel really special at a time when they should be enjoying their new arrival rather than worrying about the future.
Without financial donations we would not be able to run and maintain the new unit. If you feel that you would like to support us financially there are a few ways you can do this.
We provide packs for newborns to 2 year old. Our packs include moses baskets, bedding, toiletries and toys.
We have currently given out over 140 packs to local families
Items that we are in desparate need of will be posted on the Facebook page, otherwise please contact us via email or phone. We have a contactless delivery point for small durations during COVID-19, please contact us for further information.
